Health Action Overseas

Health Action Overseas is a registered Irish Charity, which provides training, direct support and individually designed programmes for children and young people with disabilities in Romania.

HAO works in partnership with local and government authorities to promote a rights-based approach to disability service provision, as well as the promotion of social integration and inclusion for people with disabilities.

Working as the organisation known as “Babies of Romania” the first initiatives of HAO began in Romania in 1991providing emergency relief to babies and young children living in institutions. Over the past twenty years the organisation has continued to work with young people with disabilities in Romania supporting them to live more independent and inclusive lives within community.

In 2011 HAO is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This landmark year is viewed by the organisation as a time to reflect on past achievements, to enhance current initiatives and to plan for and implement actions that will further support young people with disabilities to live as equal and cherished citizens within their communities and wider Romanian society.
